It made her rethink her thoughts on the benefits of being grateful. She found that gratitude is more than just a slogan on a mug; it is a unique predictor of well-being that offers a protective cloak against poor mental health.

Studies have shown that higher levels of gratitude are associated with better sleep, more fulfilling relationships and greater resilience.

Simple exercises, such as spending two weeks writing a daily list of three things for which you are grateful, have been found to increase life satisfaction, decrease worry and improve body image, with the beneficial effects lasting for up to six months.
