Did you know gratitude is essential to happiness and wellbeing? Preliminary research suggests that grateful people may have better sleep, healthier hearts, and fewer aches and pains. Fifteen years of research is showing results, as shared in UC Berkeley’s Greater Good magazine.

Gratitude is more than just a mental health booster, as recent research has found that being grateful could also have a positive impact on physical health. Those with grateful dispositions tend to report fewer health complaints such as headaches, stomach aches and sleep disturbances.

While some studies have suggested that the relationship between gratitude and good health is unclear, a growing body of research suggests that being grateful has positive ramifications for the body. Evidence also suggests that practicing gratitude can lead to better sleep and lower blood pressure, which are both linked to good heart health.
